Automotive Market Institute joins the Association of Automotive Intelligence: Supporting Transparency in the Car Market

The Automotive Research Institute has recently joined the Association of Automotive Intelligence (AAI). The Auto Market Research Institute is dedicated to conducting research and analysis in the automotive industry. Its primary focus is gathering data and insights related to the car market, which helps inform decision-making processes for various stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, and consumers.

The Institute of Automotive Market Research had previously developed and proposed a draft law to the parliament in 2020 to prevent mileage tampering, demonstrating their commitment to addressing this issue effectively.

For Ukrainian car buyers, the issue of tampered mileage is equally pressing as in other European countries. The Institute of Car Market Research reveals that over 80 per cent of cars in the market may have artificially low odometer readings. Stanislav Buchatskyi, the head of the of Automotive Market Research Institute, explains, "A car with 100,000 kilometres and one with 500,000 kilometres are fundamentally different in terms of required maintenance and associated costs. Thus, they should have different price points. Mileage tampering is not only a scam; it directly impacts buyers’ spending. Therefore, upon receiving an invitation to join the association, which also opposes car market fraud, we promptly decided to join."

One of the critical challenges we aim to address is the prevalence of fraud in the sale of used cars. The association highlights the lack of transparency throughout the car trade chain and emphasises the need for collective action to introduce anti-fraud legislation. Shockingly, up to 50 per cent of cross-border car sales are estimated to involve artificially low odometer readings, further underscoring the urgent need for intervention.

In addition to the Auto Market Research Institute, the partner company West Auto Hub has joined this union of organisations. The Association of Automotive Intelligence calls upon all those who support the idea of transparency in the car market to collaborate and contribute to this vital cause. Further information about the association can be obtained from the Auto Market Research Institute or the organisation’s website.

By joining forces with the Association of Automotive Intelligence, the Automotive Market Research Institute reaffirms its dedication to promoting transparency, combating fraud, and protecting the interests of used car buyers. With the collective efforts of these organisations, significant strides can be made towards establishing a more trustworthy and secure car market for all consumers.
